Nanowrimo Prep

It’s October, and we all know what that means! Less than a month until Nanowrimo starts!

I am one of those Nanowrimo participants that plans everything out. And I mean EVERYTHING. I have a list of plot twists, a list of characters, a list of settings. I’ve started outlining the plot, analyzing my characters. I am ready to go. Let’s write this novel!

I got the idea for my upcoming Nano novel last year right before Nanowrimo. At that point I had already decided what plot I would be writing for that year and didn’t want to change it last minute, but I was tempted to. So the idea I’m writing this year has been marinating around in my brain for over a year.

The idea I’m writing this year has changed and grown over the year. It’s been influenced by the things I’ve read and watched, mostly Firefly and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. (It is going to be a very sci-fi novel.) I’m not going to get into the specifics of my novel (obviously I don’t want my idea to be stolen) but I really like the rebel feel of both Firefly and Star Wars. I’m thinking of incorporating some of that, and also some of the casual humor that comes across from characters like Wash and Han Solo.

Also the death of Han Solo kinda motivated this idea. I was upset about that one.

This year will be the fourth November Nanowrimo I’m participating in. (I’ve also done the Nanowrimo challenge during one April camp and one July camp.) I’ve won every year I’ve participated (not to sound braggy or anything. I realize that comes off kind of arrogant.) This year I’m making it my goal to reach 60,000 words instead of 50,000. To make the challenge a little bit harder.

So basically I’m ready to go, November needs to hurry up and get here. I’ve planned and I’m ready to write. Nanowrimo here we come!
